Causes of Poverty

There are many causes to poverty. Some of the reasons are explained below-

Money
_____________
One reason of poverty is when people can't earn money- An adult can get sick, and can't go to work. If he can't go to work, he won't earn money, and have less money for food and water. Then the adult can get even more sick, and he could be trapped in severe poverty.

Severe Weather
_____________
Weather causes poverty because severe weather, such as earthquakes, can cause damage.. A good example if this was the one that occurred in Haiti. The earthquake took down everything, including buildings. People couldn't get to their jobs and earn money. So then, they couldn't get food, water, clothes, or new shelter. People couldn't get to their lost family members, and many people died. Haiti resulted in severe poverty.

Women's Rights
_____________
People might think that women suffer the same amount as men in poverty. But did you know that 70% of people living in poverty are women? It's true. This huge percentage is caused by the lack of women's rights. Boys are most likely to be offered an education than girls. Women also work in jobs with the least pay, but all their hard-earned money can be taken away by men. They earn less than 1% of land, and men's power over them cost them their lives.
